Who I am
My name is Malia Carter, and I’m the author of the memoir When Idols Fall.
My story is one of survival, transformation, and faith. For years, I lived through a relationship that blurred the line between love and addiction—what many people would recognize as a trauma bond. It was a season that nearly destroyed my life, but it ultimately became the catalyst for my healing and spiritual awakening.
When Idols Fall was born out of that journey. What began as private reflections and journal entries eventually became a memoir about the painful truth of misplaced devotion, the courage it takes to walk away from what harms us, and the long road back to ourselves.
Before focusing on writing, I spent many years working in executive support and operations across healthcare, entertainment, and corporate environments. That professional experience taught me discipline, resilience, and the ability to navigate complex challenges—skills that continue to shape my work today.
Through my writing, I hope to speak honestly about addiction, faith, healing, and personal transformation. My goal is simple: to remind others that even after the deepest collapse, rebuilding is possible.
